What Are The Causes Of Forehead Lines?

Before we learn how to treat forehead lines, it is important to know how they are caused.

As we age, we lose volume over our forehead, leading to a loss of the smooth convexity of youth and a sunken appearance. This volume is lost due to the reduction of natural collagen production and a decline in the skin’s elasticity.

Repeated expressions such as frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows can further solidify these lines.

Can Botox Remove Lines From The Forehead?

When injected beneath the skin, botulinum toxin (more commonly known as Botox) reduces wrinkles by lessening the muscle’s contraction. This relaxation of the muscles works best on dynamic wrinkles – those caused by repeated movement.

Forehead Botox can also significantly reduce the appearance of deeper or static lines.

How Long Does Forehead Botox Last?

The effects of forehead Botox last for around three months, and, unlike other treatments, the procedure can be repeated when necessary.

The Anti-Wrinkle Injection Process

Each anti-wrinkle treatment is tailored to each client; therefore, it isn’t a one-size-fits-all process!

Your appointment will begin with a consultation with your Doctor, where your goals can be discussed and understood. The Botox is then injected in the required area, and a small pinch will be felt.

Here at Infinity Aesthetics, Dr Owen Thomas expertly tailors each botulinum toxin treatment in London to your unique facial structure and aesthetic goals, enhancing your natural beauty while maintaining the full range of facial expressions.

Improvements can be noticed within 3-7 days after treatment, with full results visible after approximately 2 weeks

Are There Any Side Effects?

Patients usually only experience very mild side effects (if any) following injections, such as a transient headache for a small number of people or sometimes mild bruising. Directly after the treatment, there are often small lumps that fade after ten minutes or so.

These treatments have been used safely for many years. When administered correctly by qualified professionals, there are no known long-term adverse effects. The treatment is temporary and reversible.

Dermal Fillers For Erasing Forehead Lines

Dermal fillers increase hydration to produce a plumper appearance. They can be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, as well as to improve the profile of the forehead.

This treatment has many anti-ageing benefits, as different types of high-quality hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used.

How Long Do They Last?

The results of dermal fillers can be seen immediately and can last up to 18 months!

Are There Any Side Effects?

As with any medical treatment, there can be side effects, although these are usually mild given that hyaluronic acid is a natural substance.

Swelling and redness are most common, the worst of which tends to subside over 24-48 hours.

Serious complications from fillers, such as blood vessel blockages, are very rare and minimised with excellent technique; hyaluronic acid fillers are also reversible with an enzyme that can be injected.

What Is Better For Forehead Wrinkles, Botox Or Fillers?

Botox and Dermal Fillers work differently to target different areas – Botox targets weakening the muscles, whereas Dermal Fillers focus on plumping and hydrating the area.

It is a hybrid approach that is best suited for forehead rejuvenation, altering eyebrow position and shape (more feminine or masculine), and temporal filling injections can be combined as part of a complete upper face rejuvenation. It is an often-overlooked part of the treatment plan, and one that less experienced practitioners fail to notice or suggest.

What Is The Aftercare For Forehead Lines Treatment?

Dermal Fillers Aftercare

Recovery time will always vary between different patients. You can resume most everyday activities right away, but it is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimise swelling and bruising.

It is best to avoid touching the area or applying makeup for around 12 hours after treatment and avoid flying for 24-48 hours. Although avoidance of alcohol is often suggested, there is no evidence that this worsens bleeding, but we recommend very moderate intake for the first day after treatment with dermal fillers.

Botox And Anti-Wrinkle Injections Aftercare

Downtime for Botox is minimal; it is best to avoid excessive touching or massaging of the area. Also, refrain from lying down for the first few hours.

There are a lot of aftercare myths out there. It is always recommended to ask your Doctor for their professional advice post-treatment.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women

How Often Would I Need Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers last for variable times in different areas of the face, but in the forehead, they may last 6-12 months after the first treatment. This can be longer with subsequent sessions, given the layering effect of filler.
