Filler Dissolving with Hyaluronidase
If you’re unhappy with the results of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, or need them removed for safety reasons, Dr Thomas offers precise filler dissolving using hyaluronidase. This enzyme quickly breaks down the filler, allowing your body to clear it naturally over a period of days.
At Infinity Aesthetics, we always use ultrasound assessment and guided injection to locate the exact position of the filler. This ensures a smaller amount of enzyme is used, and importantly reducing the chance that filler could be missed completely.
Hyaluronidase treatment is generally very safe, with a low incidence of complications. It works specifically on hyaluronic acid filler and does not damage your body’s own natural collagen, elastin, or other tissues. Most people experience only mild, short-lived effects such as minor swelling or redness.
Our approach allows us to dissolve unwanted filler quickly, precisely, and with less impact on surrounding tissue. However, it is impossible to predict exactly the degree of filler reduction per treatment as there are other factors (filler age, patient age, tissue laxity). It is possible to see hollowing after treatment which is usually temporary. With patients who have had larger amounts of filler repeatedly over many years, they can find that there’s a sudden loss of volume that makes them look very different. This is not because of damage to tissue, but because of loss of the filler that has been propping up the tissues around it. While this occurs in a minority of people, one study showed that around 18% of people did have significant hollowing after treatment. If this persists, it may require re-treatment with filler.
