Turn Back Time With Hand Rejuvenation

Our hands can show signs of ageing more than other, more obvious parts of the body. Constant use combined with sun exposure causes our hands to age faster, and can often make you look older than you are.

So, how can hand rejuvenation help reverse signs of ageing? Hand rejuvenation is an increasingly commonly requested treatment, also known as the ‘Radiesse Hand Lift’ because of the special long-lasting Dermal Filler used. Lost volume in the back of the hands is restored in a quick and simple procedure.

Treatments for Ageing Hands

It’s a common misconception that hand creams with anti-ageing properties are your only solution for hand rejuvenation. Here, at Infinity Aesthetics, we can offer the following treatments to enhance your youth:

Let’s take a look at each of these treatments for ageing hands, to see how each can help you get your hands back to looking their youthful best.

Dermal Fillers

Radiesse is a calcium-based Filler that is robust and can withstand the pressures and movement within the hand. This restores lost volume in the back of the hands and is done with a very simple and convenient procedure, usually with some topical local anaesthetic for a few minutes.

Dermal Fillers help to reduce the prominence of visible veins and tendons, while also smoothing out fine lines and improving skin texture for a more youthful look.

The treatment is highly effective and delivers long-lasting results. The first injections often last a year or so, but subsequent maintenance ones can last for 18 months or more.

What Is The Downtime For Hand Rejuvenation By Dermal Fillers?

You can resume most activities or return to work right away, but it is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimise swelling and bruising.

Profhilo®

Profhilo® is an innovative treatment as it leverages the power of Hyaluronic acid and slowly hydrates the skin evenly from within, enhancing elasticity and firmness, resulting in aesthetic beauty. Profhilo® treatment restores healthy and glowing skin on your hands.

In contrast to wrinkle-reducing and Dermal Filler procedures, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, drawing water into the dermis in much greater amounts.

Profhilo® is precisely injected into the skin in several points before spreading under and through the dermis. As a stabilised substance, elastin and collagen are stimulated by a slower-released form of hyaluronic acid. This causes a significant boost in tissue quality.

Because of this, we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening/lifting effect on tissue.

Profhilo® is a stand-alone treatment that offers the ideal injectable for dry and ageing skin, making it perfect for rejuvenation. Using the natural compound of hyaluronic acid, Profhilo® is not chemically cross-linked and therefore may be used in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments such as Dermal Fillers and wrinkle-relaxing injections.

How Does It Work?

This two-session bio-stimulation treatment uses highly purified, stabilised hyaluronic acid, injected into key areas of the hands. Over 4-6 weeks, it stimulates natural collagen and elastin, improving skin firmness, elasticity, and hydration.

Is Profhilo® Better Than Fillers?

They serve different purposes. Fillers restore volume, while Profhilo® improves skin quality and tightens without adding volume.

Therefore, they are often used together in a hybrid approach to rejuvenation.

Is Ageing In Our Hands Preventable? – Caring For Your Hands

As much as ageing is a natural process, there are a few solutions to preventing and lessening the effects of this on our hands.

Caring for your hands can be done in many ways. Implementing products such as SPF and hand creams into your daily routine can increase moisture in the skin for a brighter complexion, whilst also preventing sun spots and pigmentations.

Wearing protective gloves when handling household chores such as cleaning or gardening, for example, can also protect the skin from things like harsh chemicals and other drying agents.

There is only so much preventative measures can accomplish. Dermal Fillers and Profhilo® are the natural next steps to achieving youthful hands.

Are There Any Complications Or Side Effects From Fillers?

As with any medical treatment, there can be side effects, although these are usually mild given that hyaluronic acid is a natural substance.

Transient swelling is common, sometimes with occasional redness and bruising, which settles after a couple of days. Dr Thomas will discuss all possible side effects at the time of the assessment.

Although Radiesse isn’t yet reversible, the risk of blood vessel complications is less than in the face, and with expert techniques, this is minimised further.

Which Is The Best Option For Hand Rejuvenation For Me?

Both Dermal Fillers, such as Radiesse, and treatments such as Profhilo®, have similar immediate effects, but are absorbed by the body differently and last for different lengths of time.

Which option is best is completely subjective; therefore, it is best to arrange a consultation with a doctor before booking an appointment.
